Keep in mind, this Atukagawa is an alter version from the main canon, what if… he was accepted in the Armed Detective Agency and not the Port Mafia? Born from poverty and orphaned, Akutagawa’s life was difficult. The rules for survival was only the strong can rise and the weak fall, the garbage remains on the ground. With this mindset, Akutagawa accepted this lifestyle, rising higher if must in order to survive. Important thing to know about Akutagawa, he thought about death time and time because of the hellish life and his inner self. His parents remained unknown, fighting for food and shelter, and clothing were a blessing.
When Akutagawa came to the world, he had no emotions. He based his logic solemnly on rationality. If someone dared to wrong his group, there be no warning but retribution. Adults feared him for this reason and knowing he is an ‘ability user’. Even with emotions, it was hard to read Akutagawa’s face because he never really expressed himself for twelve years. If anything, his action spoke more volume than words alone.
‘Because you are not living under your own free will.’- Dazai
The day he gained an emotion was the day he witnessed his group of friends murdered, anger and rage were born. Though he was able to escape death by the skin of his teeth, it wasn’t enough for him. Akutagawa wanted vengeance, whether he’d win or die. Dazai mentioned this to him, he never once thought about his sister’s well being before the murder, reason for this, Dazai chose Atsushi instead. The day Akutagawa was able to feel emotions, the angry beast was born. Only certain triggers would awaken this ‘beast’ be Dazai, his sister’s whereabouts, and corruption. Oda, his mentor, encouraged him not to chase the beast, not to fuel on his anger. His anger is like a double edge sword, hurting himself in the process. Gin had mentioned to him, he was born from evil, because Akutagawa didn’t hesitate to use Kyouka as a hostage for one. Never had he asked about his sister’s whereabouts in the enemy’s nest, his focus was more on the big boss. That said, Gin is convinced her brother is dangerous when someone important to him is close, which cost Akutagawa to never see Gin again.
Thanks to the new environment and reliable people, Akutagawa slowly shifted from his slum life to better. Oda picked him up and adopted him to the ADA, mentoring and guiding him, training him. The ADA are also leading a hand, not hesitating to reach out to him. Kenji for one, not afraid of Akutagawa’s demeanor, and patient with him. Slowly bonding while Akutagawa helped out in the farmlands. Jun'ichirō, also with a sibling, understands the importance and sympathies with Akutagawa, which is why he didn’t hesitate to join Akutagawa later in the raid. Some of the habits he picked up from the slum didn’t leave. He can still be rough and blunt with people. Like interrogation, never assign Akutagawa with a traumatized kid.
While Akutagawa has anger management issues, here are some soft spots through that intimidating face. Orphaned children is a big one. Akutagawa knew the struggle of survival without a parent or guardian. While watching some of Oda’s adopted kids, Akutagawa learned some value being a guardian. Still didn’t like it, but he poured his energy to playing with them, using his ability in any way to help, setting good examples (even if it meant he had to play bad cop), and acted as a guardian to attend a parent/teacher conference. He definitely gained some levels of patience and creativity through these exercises, like using his ability to make a huge tent and slide for them. It’s like he made a playground in their bedroom. Next, he sympathizes anyone with siblings when he has a younger sister, encouraging them to look after one another. He also had a moment with Atsushi, understanding his backstory as an orphan and the two had a synchronize with one another.
As a detective, Akutagawa is sharp and calculated. He comes up with tactics to if he must to corner an enemy. First, he can gather information easily around the slum where he grew up. Getting on the field is his strong point, but he can be a bit hasty, which are both good and bad. Solving cases for one. But when he demands an answer, Akutagawa is impatient, like the ‘Okay Card’ the ADA planned for him to complete if he wanted answers. Akutagawa doesn’t like to sit idle and like to contribute some work, now that he was finally given a stable job and home. Most important, the ADA acknowledged Akutagawa as an agent. For them to give him this, it’s a treasure, adding more value to live on with himself.
Abilities: Rashomon: He can shape the clothes on his back to whatever he likes whether it be blades or a beast head. Rashomon can distort a space, think of it like a temporary force field.

Questions: Sorry - just stating here I don’t mind Port Mafia version Akutagawa. And it will be a different journal if/when accepted.
