[ Little glance down again. Good, he's eating the apple. Maruki moves to begin assembling a quick grab bag of snacks from The Conbini Snack Drawer, careful to keep his blood to himself. ]
I think he was just hungry. And frightened. But he's alright.
I did. Thankfully, it seems to have worked. [There's a brief moment of quiet as Oda's teeth worry against his bottom lip. When he speaks again, there's an anxious edge to his voice, nearly pained. It's more emotion than he usually shows.]
He's a reactive kid. Someone could easily get hurt. If he hadn't happened to run into you, maybe someone would have hurt him...
Thanks again, Maruki-san. I'm coming to the door now. Let him know I'm the one knocking, would you?
[ That palpable concern in Oda's voice is a new sound, but not an unfamiliar sentiment. Maruki feels it all the time for Eren and Akechi; it's an intense empathy that he feels for Oda, suddenly. His voice gentles further. ]
Okay. Don't worry. He really is fine. You'll see in a minute.
[ And then, hanging up, he comes around out of the kitchen, gesturing for Akutgawa to follow. ]
That's Oda-san at the door. Would you like to open it yourself?
[Akutagawa continued to nibble his apple carefully, not too fast, while the adults are talking. He heard some of the conversation, mostly from Maruki. Kids be curious.
Then, a knock echoes from a door, which sets off alarms from Akutagawa, his eyes widen, fixated at the door until—-
Maruki mentioned Oda.
His expression soften, following a nod as he walks to the door.]
Odasaku-san.
[No biting, but instead, he corrects Maruki. He reaches for the knob and turns to open the door slowly for the man of the hour.]
[For someone as non-expressive as Odasaku, the warmth that floods into his expression when he sees little Ryuu is simply unmistakable. Immediately, he squats down to the boy's height, letting his arms hang open in case Ryuu would like to be held. He always lets the boy come to him first.]
Hey there, Ryuu. I heard you met my good friend Maruki-san. He's pretty nice, isn't he?
[A glance up for the other man. He's likely to notice blood if there's any visible; regardless, his expression is subtly apologetic, and quite plainly grateful.]
[ There is indeed blood! Quite a bit of it! The long sleeves of his shirt are more red than they aren't, but he's smiling all the same, holding a kitchen towel wrapped around one arm and giving a thumbs up with the free hand.
It's sweet, seeing Oda like this... It must have been how he looked when Akechi was returned to him. They both have volatile little guys they're fond of.
But otherwise, he's just going to stand back and let them reunite. No need for more snake bites. ]
[They are both a non-expressive pair. He didn’t rush, walked up to Oda’s arm. Whether this is real or a dream, he didn’t want to wake up from. He nods, agreeing with Oda. Though the blood on the doctor’s sleeve is still there, he remained the same. The boy already apologized, the man accepted it. It was water under the bridge.]
He gave me an apple.
[And then he pulls another apple from his pocket to give.]
This is for you Odasaku-san.
[Well, maybe he stole the apple from Maruki’s stash, minor details.]
[Whether the apple is stolen or not, Odasaku is sure that Maruki doesn't care (aren't doctors supposed to hate apples?); furthermore, being offered an apple by a kid who's used to starving is deeply touching - a true show, Odasaku thinks, of the trust they've managed to build.
[Ryuu comes close against Odasaku's arm, so the man lifts him up under his bum so he can clutch onto him, like they've done several times now. He accepts the apple as well.]
Thanks, Ryuu. I was really hoping for a nice apple today. [He glances at Maruki and gives a little wink; mouths: "Thank you."]
Why don't we go back to my place? I've got more of that juice you like.
[And he'll just start inching out the door, allowing Maruki some time and privacy to properly clean himself up. He'll send a little appreciation/apology text later.]
[ Maruki catches the wink and returns it, inclines his head as if to say no problem. And he already has Azathoth creeping up into the forefront of his mind to summon as soon as the door is closed, but then he remembers– ]
Ah– here! Akutagawa-kun, don't forget this.
[ He ducks around the corner, grabs the little bag he'd put together of conbini snacks from the stash in his drawer. Hands it off to Akutagawa, still at arm's length, smiling wide and warm. ]

Hey, Maruki-san. What's up?

Hey, Oda-san. I think I found something of yours in my home.
[ He looks down at Akutagawa clutching the apple and makes a gesture like he's biting into one himself; it's okay to eat it! ]
Akutagawa-kun is here. He told me you're his friend.

[Shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit--]

I'm not far. Thanks for looking after him. [He drops his voice a bit.] Are you hurt? Just give him a little distance. I think he's come to trust me.

[ True enough! Thank you, Akechi, for inuring him to functioning with mild to moderate wounds. ]
He's calmer now... I think. Did you put that note in his scarf? It's very cute. And helpful!
